ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corporate Events Manager will lead the creation of marquee company events, from initial strategy development through to successful execution. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of corporate events and meetings, ensuring they are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and brand positioning. A high level of organizational management, strategic thinking and the ability to execute under deadlines are essential for your success in this role.
This position supports both internal and external customers, so the ability to work with a range of personnel in a professional manner is a must. The ideal candidate will also have fresh and creative ideas and a voice to encourage improvements and positive change.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Lead the planning and execution of meetings, tradeshows and events, large and small.
- Partner with leadership teams and the Communications department to determine event objectives to design, plan and execute programming to those objectives.
- Collaborate with agencies and vendors to design programs that align with identified goals and objectives.
- Research and recommend sites, venues, and vendors.
- Lead RFP processes for venue and vendor selection.
- Negotiate contracts effectively by understanding contract verbiage and standards for negotiation while optimizing cost saving opportunities.
- Create budgets, manage expenses to stay within those budgets and reconcile event bills. Make recommendations on cost-savings and provide final budget reconciliation post-event.
- Manage and deliver event logistics – theming, agendas, registration, event app, attendee communication, transportation, timelines, food and beverage, décor, AV, budgeting and more.
- Lead the management of events onsite – working teams, attendee management, vendor relationships, timelines, logistics and customer experience.
- Ability to professionally consult and converse with individuals at various levels within and outside the organization both verbally and written.
- Promote and maintain a positive rapport between customers, teammates and suppliers to enhance internal and external customer satisfaction during events.
- Able to write error-free event copy and communications. Clear understanding of structure, detail, and tone of communications.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
Field of Study Preferred: Hospitality Management, Event Management, Communications, PR, Marketing, Business Administration or related field required
Required Work Experience: 8+ years with proven experience in each area of event management - planning, operating and wrap-up, as well as experience with RFP processes to source venues, vendors, AV, etc., utilizing online sourcing platforms where applicable
Required Training/Certifications: CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) preferred
Travel Requirements: 15-20%
Additional Requirements:
- Strong negotiation and budget management skills and ability to work with vendors to negotiate contracts and pricing
- Ability to interface and consult with executives
- Expertise in building and maintaining online registration systems and communicating with attendees through those systems
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while remaining flexible to changing requirements
- Ability to manage multiple meetings, events, and tradeshows at once while maintaining a high degree of organization
- Solid relationship building, as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure, independently, and meet deadlines
- Organizational awareness and knowledge of corporate standards and procedures
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
