ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Internal Reporting Audit Analyst role is part of the Regional Finance team. This role will be responsible for external audit coordination, preparation of standalone financial statements, M&A support, and various financial planning and analysis at the North American level.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

- Financial Audit & Accounting: Coordinating and managing external audits and hard close reviews Holcim North American operations. Leading the preparation of legal entity financial statements and notes disclosures and getting the same audited from the external auditor. Providing accounting policy expertise for Holcim (US), Holcim (Canada), and Aggregates Industries US as per HARP (Holcim Accounting and Reporting Policies). Supporting regional FP&A team with the ad hoc reporting requirements
- Statutory/Standalone Financial Statements: Preparation and completion of statutory/stand-alone financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements (US GAAP/ IFRS). Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial reporting, and collaborating closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during audit processes.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Providing support for the due diligence work required for M&A. Coordinating acquisition accounting including the preparation of purchase price accounting and supporting documentation for auditors (i.e. Support for goodwill on acquisitions)
- Ad Hoc Requirements: Working on special projects like restructuring programs accounting, new ASC implementations, etc. Researching and preparing technical accounting memos on issues such as joint control, pension, impairment, acquisition accounting, etc. under both US GAAP and SEC guidance. Working on benchmarking exercise by comparing the KPIs and reported figures of Holcim against competitors in North America.
- Possess a deep understanding of US GAAP, particularly ASC 410-20 (Asset Retirement Obligation - ARO) and ASC 842 (Leases), as it applies to construction and mining activities. Stay abreast of changes in US GAAP and provide technical guidance to relevant stakeholders.
- ARO Model Maintenance: Maintain a robust ARO accounting model, aligned with ASC 410-20, gathering data from operational controllers on future cash flows. Analyze and process the data to determine appropriate ARO liability
- ARO Questionnaire & Policy Development: Develop comprehensive questionnaires and policies tailored to the construction and mining industry to guide operational controllers in accurately identifying and quantifying ARO liabilities. Create clear policies outlining ARO recognition criteria, estimation methodologies, documentation requirements, and review processes. Stay current on relevant accounting pronouncements and industry best practices.
- ARO Accounting & Reporting: Work with a shared service center to prepare and post ARO-related journal entries and disclosures for financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely recording of ARO liabilities and related expenses.
- US GAAP Leases Knowledge: Understand US GAAP lease accounting under ASC 842, as it applies to leases in construction and mining. Identify and classify lease arrangements and understand their impact on ARO liabilities.

Education: Bachelor's degree
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Business with a major in Accounting and Finance
Required Work Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of accounting and financial management experience with increasing responsibility.
- Big Four experience will be considered valuable
- Project management experience preferred
- Excellent IFRS reporting experience (US GAAP and SEC reporting is considered an asset)
- Knowledge of accounting within the manufacturing and/or construction industry preferred
- Past hands-on experience on ARO will be preferred
Licenses Preferred: CPA or equivalent recognized accounting designation
Required Computer and Software Skills: MS Office (Exel, PowerPoint, etc) and Google Suite. Spreadsheet and database applications
Travel Requirements: 10-20%
Additional Requirements:
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of accounting principles, including controls and standards.
- Systems knowledge and interest are important to effectively utilize/leverage the SAP system
- The initiative is a key attribute to recognize problems/issues and propose the resolution
- ASC / IFRS knowledge and demonstrated financial/business analysis/cost control skills
- Self-starting, flexible, and responsive; able to make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks/assignments within specified deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, as well as internal and external customers
- Effective planning and organizational skills (balancing multiple tasks and assignments within specified deadlines including the ability to articulate project status to the supervisor, other team members, and customers)
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
