ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will have primary responsibility for all transportation safety-related activities for Holcim. It will be responsible for enhancing and implementing a policy that governs all third-party providers' safety  performance/processes for each mode (road, rail and barge). The position will also provide oversight and validate that policy is being implemented and adhered to by management.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Meets and audits service providers to validate expected safety performance exists.
  • Continuously monitors safety performance of service providers.
  • Enhances existing safety policies and processes with carriers and at facilities.
  • Manages safety reporting.
  • Manages safety pre-qualification system of all transportation service providers.
  • Manages transportation safety processes and procedures.
  • Aligns safety policies and procedures with Holcim global standards.
  • Completes safety incident root cause analysis for critical incidents and follow-up.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree or 5 years of equivalent experience

Field of Study Preferred: Logistics or related field

Required Training/Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma preferred

Licenses Preferred: Commercial Drivers License a plus

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office and SAP

Travel Requirements: 25%

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of transportation safety policies and procedures
  • Prior experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) and/or Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • Transportation Risk 2 Management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to handle conflict and address issues
  • Ability to work with Governmental Agencies
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
