ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Transfer Machine Operator to support the operations at the Asphalt plant location in Clinton, MD. This position will be responsible for Operating the transfer machine according to safety procedures and guidelines, ensuring the machine is in good working order and equipped with the necessary safety devices. 


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Transfers asphalt mix from dump trucks to the paver
  • Maintains consistent material flow
  • Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of milling machine that mills asphalt on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.
  • Prevents material segregation and temperature loss
  • Monitor material temperature and consistency
  • Communicate with truck drivers and paver operators
  • Perform basic maintenance on the equipment such as preventive maintenance on all milling machinery
  • Follow safety and DOT regulations

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail.
  • Experience in road construction or heavy equipment operation
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving process
  • Ability to read grade stakes and paving plans
  • Mechanical skills for minor repairs
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
