ABOUT THE ROLE
Participates in the management of the energy risk exposure of the group, in close relationship with the Head of Energy Desk (HoED) and with the Strategic Sourcing Directors/Managers (here-after “SSD/SSM”) of a dedicated area, in strong coordination with the countries. Actively participates in the definition of the group’s Financial Energy risk Strategy and proposes the energy hedging guidelines to HoED/SSDs/SSMs and to the countries. Also, follows the relevant markets and understands their fundamentals (Power, Gas, Oil, Coal...) in coordination with the Energy Analyst.
He/she is responsible for financial operations in energy markets, with external counterparts, implementing the energy guidelines validated by HoED/SSDs/SSMs, HSER, and countries in the strict frame of the energy risk directive defined by the Group, and supporting middle office and back office in all processes related to financial hedging of energy.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- The activities entrusted to the Energy Analyst & Market Operator will consist in:
- Manage financial risk on commodities wherever financial indices exist (including power and natural gas for liberalized markets, coal, carbon emission, etc.).
- Limit impacts of market volatility on a country's performance.
- Ensure compliance with group policies and security of market transactions.
- Participate actively to the Group energy hedging strategy, supervised by the HoED;
- Manage and develop cross competencies of people working in interface with financial energy hedging (system manager, treasury middle office, treasury back office).
- Performing hedging operations for every energy market with finance indices, after validation of main components (volume, price, maturity) by his supervisor and the relevant Head of Energy/SSD/SSM: Work only with counterparts validated by the group; Ensure the best level of price available in the market; Compile every offer proposed by counterparts; and Use Allegro tool to compile the deals.
- Manage the monthly reporting of the financial positions hedged, at group and country levels: Analyze deal portfolio managed, to follow market risk components, optimize operations, and ensure that corrective actions are implemented. Develop, create, and adapt decision tools, reporting, and benchmarks to follow risks and performances. Propose standards of reporting, explain results and variances, share information, and communicate key figures.
- Data management: Collect all the necessary market data to ensure proper management of the energy portfolio; Propose to the energy team the portfolio every month.
- Fundamentals of Market: Ensure the proper follow-up of the markets, compiling the relevant informations from information platforms (such as Bloomberg), from market actors, and Share information with the “Team” (market analyst, HoED/SSDs/SSMs, head of the energy group); Propose to the HoED/SSDs/SSMs, countries the hedging guidelines which will define the strategy of hedging for every market.
- Internal-External contact management: Contribute, in close collaboration with the energy team, to raising awareness of the internal actors to the concept of market risks, lead the studies and the analyses, to articulate the recommendations possibly necessary for a good understanding of these risks; Communicate to the internal actors (the Team but also the countries) when executing every energy deal; Contribute to the selection of the best bank counterparties and maintain with them regular quotations. Organize workshops with countries (including plants) to inform about market evolution and help the HoE/SSDs/SSMs to promote load management on site.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Bachelor's degree
- Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
- Field of Study Preferred: Finance or Engineer with MBA.
- Required Work Experience: Recognized experience in the same role in banks or industry for at least 3 years.
- Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient/Advanced skills in MS Office; specifically Excel and PPT, Google Mail & Drive. Basic SAP knowledge or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Very good understanding and very good knowledge of financial markets, hedging skills, and financial instruments.
- Be able to implement and drive strategic processes.
- Bilingual is a plus.
