ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional H&S Manager continuously monitors and improves H&S performance through communication, implementation of corrective actions for identified risks and regional H&S advocacy. The incumbent manages the implementation of company safety programs, policies and procedures for multiple regions. Be responsible to adapt and/or develop risk focused H&S programs to that suit the specific requirements of each regional business. The incumbent will concurrently assist with the development and planning of certain national projects. The Regional H&S Manager will provide independent, objective feedback to management regarding achievements and regional performance as it pertains to safety standards, policies, and procedures. Manages multiple subordinates within various, dissimilar local markets across multiple product segments.

 

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Implement programs to support business groups and strategic safety initiatives.
  • Direct the region’s safety program to meet overall company safety requirements through the initiation and promotion of day-to-day safety policies and the development and delivery of safety training activities for employees and management.
  • Coordinate communications of occupational hazards and risks to both managers and the workforce.
  • Assist with the design of national standards programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury.
  • Conducts or oversees audits and inspections and validates adherence to company policy, laws, and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.
  • Participate in the investigation of serious incidents and injuries and advise in the preparation of material and evidence for the organization to use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Advises on compliance matters and interacts with operating locations regarding interaction with state and federal agencies as needed (MSHA, OSHA, ATF, USCG/HS, etc.)
  • Prepares and delivers ad hoc reports with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Advise Regional Heads regarding effective resource deployment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree or years of equivalent experience
Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Health and Safety or other related discipline
Required Work Experience: 7-10 years
Required Training/Certifications: IOSH Chartered Status Preferred
Required Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills with proficiency in safety databases and Microsoft
Travel Requirements: Travel to company regional locations, some travel outside of regions

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of the ACM or large industrial manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with local, state and federal laws and other government compliance regulations including OSHA, MSHA and DOT (possible Coast Guard).
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
