ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Electrical Mechanic to support operations at Millville Quarry. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. This entails inspecting the premises, performing routine maintenance and fixing any faulty wiring. Replacing electrical appliances is necessary, so the ability to read blueprints and abide by the National Electric Code is essential. Perform high voltage switching and operate generators in support of operations. Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public. This position typically works from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs.
WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on quarry equipment such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, and motors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues to minimize downtime and support continuous plant operations.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on high-voltage and low-voltage systems.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and federal electrical codes, including OSHA and MSHA regulations.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Implement and follow lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols during maintenance tasks.
- Assist with upgrades and installation of new electrical equipment or plant automation systems (e.g., PLCs, control panels).
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and parts used for equipment tracking and compliance.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Field of Study Preferred: Journeyman Electrician - West Virginia Journeymen electrician certification (preferred)
Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience performing the functions listed above in a construction, building materials, manufacturing or industrial environment.
Travel Requirements: N/A
- Experience working with 480V or higher electrical systems is often required in quarries.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues quickly to minimize equipment downtime.
- Capable of interpreting electrical diagrams and wiring schematics for installation and repair tasks.
- Familiarity with maintaining electrical systems proactively to prevent breakdowns, not just reacting to failures.
- Willingness and ability to work in rugged, outdoor, or dusty quarry conditions with exposure to heat, cold, and heavy machinery.
- Must be able to lift, climb, crouch, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
