ABOUT THE ROLE

The responsibility of this position is the hands-on operation of the terminal equipment and daily operating functions of the terminal as so directed by terminal management.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Comply with Holcim’s Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.
  • Receive and fill customer’s orders and arrange trucking for customer, if requested.
  • Constantly communicates with manager as it relates to Safety in the terminal, service of customers, as well as marketing questions, maintenance of equipment and the terminal.
  • Support, demonstrate, and facilitate the concepts of continuous learning and continuous improvement as it relates to job functions.
  • Be responsible for opening and closing of terminal.
  • Be responsible for tools and equipment assigned for performance of duties.
  • Unload rail cars and be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of that equipment notify manager of any safety or maintenance issues daily, welding repairs and fabrication.
  • Operates computer systems for proper inventory control, to do daily inventory and various reports on computer during the month and reports to Terminal Manager.
  • Load Trucks, take sample from each silo pulling from that day and place samples in the designated area at end of each shift.
  • Operates equipment such as a Track-mobile, forklift, skid loader, and teleforker  
  • Operates heavy equipment such as chain falls and come-along  
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary  
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in teams  
  • Performs electric arc welding  
  • Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS policies to assure that environmental, health, and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results  
  • Performs maintenance duties in accordance with safety procedures; following standard work instructions to ensure proper utilization
  • Additional duties as assigned by Terminal Manager.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Required Education: High School diploma/GED  

Required Work Experience: 1-3 years  

Licenses Preferred: Valid Driver’s License Required  

Required Computer and Software Skills: Basic knowledge about computers, Microsoft Office and SAP.  

 

Additional Requirements:  

  • Prior cement plant experience or the equivalent to be familiar with all processes, locations and functions  
  • Must pass Bennett Comprehension Test  
  • Knowledge of mechanic, replace defective parts of a machine, adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.  
  • Experience on Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, etc.
  • Understand, read and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction and able to draw mechanic parts to be built.  
  • Must take Ferris State Evaluation Test and agree to a program of further education to strengthen weaknesses detected in the evaluation  
  • Willingness to engage in a program of formal training to progress to journeyman status  
  • Knowledgeable in the Plant safety procedures and regulations  
  • Must be proficient in the safe usage of the basic tools of the position  
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to walk through a cement plant, i.e., walk over obstacles, climb stairs and ladders, lift heavy or awkward parts, wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, respirators, etc.), work in outside weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold and heat.  
  • Ability to carry out Electric Arc Welding, Oxy Cutting, Plasma Cutter, fabrication, and basic machining jobs.  
  • Able to perform lifting & rigging activities  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels
  • Ability to carry out corrective maintenance in the following equipment: Bucket Elevator, Belt Conveyor,  Hopper/Chute/Casing, Crusher, Stacker, Reclaimer, General Gearbox, Blower, Compressors &amp; Dryers, Bag filter, Air slides, Apron Feeder, Fan maintenance, Chain Conveyors, Screw Conveyors, Lubrication equipment and hydraulic system, Tool application Valves &amp; fittings, Bearing removal &amp; FK Cement Pump & Compressors, Air Blaster.
