ABOUT THE ROLE
Analyzes solicitations to identify business risk. Complete on-site surveys; evaluate quantitative and
qualitative supplier capabilities, cost and price structures, technical infrastructure, and production limitations
and methods. Specifies contractual guidelines to be followed during bid/proposal preparation. Organizes
information, terms and conditions for proposal and reviews cost data and other detailed information to assure
that bids can be supported to customer representatives. Provides OH&S Leadership.
WHAT YOU'll BE DOING
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
- Follows all safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards. Insures appropriate legal review with corporate for contracts or related matters.
- Develop bid cost estimates of building or construction activities/services. Select reference vendor quotations. Ensure the assessment of costs for all project activities. Prepare bid price sheet by first principle and preliminary project cash flow.
- Prepare bid price breakdown and any prices/cost details.
- Prepare initial project budget. Provide cost estimates or cost plans for projects during design development stage
- Supervise, coordinate, monitor, and review assigned duties of subordinate staff to ensure work plan goals are met and tasks are completed accurately.
- Prepare monthly progress reports to General Manager.
- Make and enforce decisions dealing with hiring, discipline, individual performance, leave or flextime, and recommend termination.
- Ensures that employees are at work on time, actively engaged in assigned activities and conforming to establish internal and external safety/environmental/compliance regulations (i.e. DOT, OSHA).
- Providesimmediate performance feedback as required to resolve employee conflicts, assisting in short-termresolution of emergency situations (e.g., injuries) or safety issues, attendance issues, conduct, etc.
- Administers direct supervisory responsibilities for personnel, including selection, hiring, training, performance evaluation, corrective action, promotional recommendations and work schedules.
- Responsible for scheduling all departmental meetings and participating in and/or facilitating meetings.
- Ensures that time and attendance for assigned employees is accurate in data collection system.
- Develops and maintains reports as required. Coordinates with appropriate personnel to respond and complete audits.
- Performs risk analysis of supplier alternatives to support sourcing, supplier development, and qualification activities. Maintain accurate material and labor cost data, compare estimated costs with actual costs and make appropriate adjustments to estimating methodologies.
- Support the Sales group during the proposal/bid phase by accurately estimating the cost of material and equipment. Organizes information, terms and conditions for proposal and reviews cost data and other detailed information to assure that bids can be supported to customer representatives.
- Ensures the physical maintenance and availability of bid cost records and related documentation.
- Performs administrative duties as part of estimating administration, including typing, filing, labelling and supports transactional activities.
- Communicates effectively, professionally and in a timely manner with both internal and external customers.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor's degree or years of equivalent experience.
Field of Study Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field is desired
Required Work Experience: 5-7 years in construction building materials, manufacturing, or related field
Required Computer and Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP (preferred)
Travel Requirements: 10% for training, development and potential projects
