Job overview 

The Communications Specialist, Innovation, is a key creative and strategic partner based at the Holcim Innovation Center. Reporting to the Innovation Communications & Engagement Manager, this role is essential in translating complex R&D breakthroughs into compelling narratives that cement Holcim’s position as the global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions.

The role involves bridging the gap between high-level science and impactful storytelling, ensuring that our research projects inspire both internal teams and external stakeholders. By managing diverse digital channels and the physical Innovation Hub showroom, you will foster a culture of innovation and drive the "Holcim Spirit" through world-class content production and event support.

 

Main activities / responsibilities 

 

  • Write and edit high-quality "popular science" articles and features to promote laboratory expertise and research projects across global internal and external platforms.
  • Act as a communications consultant for Holcim Innovation Center researchers, supporting them in crafting narratives and showcasing their work to non-technical audiences.
  • Manage the Innovation intranet platform, ensuring content is fresh, engaging, and aligned with Group messaging.
    End-to-end creation of audiovisual content—including interviews, videos, animations, and tutorials—collaborating with external agencies where necessary to maintain high production standards.
  • Take full ownership of the weekly Innovation newsletter, from curation to distribution, ensuring high engagement rates.
  • Provide hands-on support for the Innovation Hub showroom, managing visitor experiences and coordinating high-profile events to showcase Holcim’s R&D pipeline.
  • Identify and harvest high-impact innovation stories from within the Innovation Center to provide a continuous pipeline of R&D content for Holcim’s global communication channels
  • Govern and elevate digital and social media presence for relevant business areas – setting strategy, approving high-visibility content and managing external agencies.
  • Monitor and analyze communication impact through audits, focus groups, with dedicated KPIs and reporting.

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Native or bilingual level of English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Proficiency in French is a plus given the location.
  • Exceptional storytelling, strategic thinking and stakeholder management skills.
  • Expertise in multi-channel communications, including digital governance, social media strategy, and brand positioning.
  • Strong analytical skills to measure and optimize communications impact.
  • High resilience, agility, and ability to navigate complex, fast-changing environments.
  • Highly autonomous and driven by a natural curiosity to explore new, complex topics and deepen technical knowledge in order to promote innovation effectively.

 

Experience

 

  • 3-5 years of communications experience, preferably within a multinational and/or industrial environment
  • Proven track record in multi-channel content production (digital, print, and video).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing events or corporate showrooms.
  • Previous experience in translating technical or scientific topics into accessible content is a strong advantage.

 

Education / Qualification

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related.

Language Requirements

 

  • Native or bilingual level of English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in French is a plus given the location.
  • Any additional language is a plus
