R&D Engineer Intern - Cement Admixtures
Saint Quentin Fallavier, FR, 38291 SAINT QUENTIN FALLAVIER, FR, 38070
THE OPPORTUNITY - CONTEXT OF THE MISSIONS
The Holcim Innovation Center focuses on enhancing the performance, cost-efficiency, and sustainability of our cement production processes globally. The strategic adoption of advanced process additives is crucial for accelerating our low-carbon transition. This mission is vital to reinforce our in-house expertise, allowing us to accurately tailor and develop optimized additive blends for our global operations.
The intern will be a key contributor, bridging advanced chemical analysis and cement performance testing:
- Advanced Chemical Characterization: Lead a project focused on the in-depth chemical characterization of complex, multi-component process additives currently used in the cement industry.
- Formulation Development and Optimization: Utilizing the data generated from the chemical analysis, the intern will be responsible for developing and optimizing alternative formulations and blends from readily available industrial raw materials.
- Strategic Performance Testing: Conduct a rigorous performance evaluation of these developed formulations on Next Generation Cements. This includes testing efficiency under process conditions (e.g., in grinding) and assessing effects on cement properties (flowability, strength).
- Process Standardization: Document the validated formulations, testing methods, and critical parameters, contributing directly to the Group's internal technical guidelines for additive handling and blending.
MISSIONS
· Systematically process and interpret advanced analytical data (LC/GC/MS, FTIR, etc.) for complex organic mixtures
· Execute laboratory work to design, blend, and ensure the physicochemical stability of new liquid additive formulations.
· Perform performance tests (e.g., grinding efficiency, flowability, strength) on various cement types.
· Synthesize findings into actionable technical recommendations for business units.
