About The Role
Do you want to work in a role helping drive sustainability, decarbonization, and profitability? You will be responsible for the Geocycle day-to-day operations at the Bath Cement Plant. You will provide leadership in developing and optimizing Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials (AFR) use in the manufacturing process, helping drive sustainability initiatives and increasing profitability.
Objectives
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AFR program at the Bath cement plant.
- All site responsibilities, with a large focus on coordination with external customers and carriers to ensure a consistent, seamless flow of Alternative Fuels & Alternative Raw materials, including communication with key plant and Geocycle commercial personnel.
- Account management of the existing customer base, fostering and developing relationships and partnerships with both external and internal customers to help Geocycle position itself as the Waste Management company of choice.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
- Serve as a role model in safety, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
Responsibilities
- Safety: Ensure that AF and ARM usage operates safely and compliantly, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Support local businesses with Contractor Safety Management (CSM) compliance and training, contractor pre-qualification platform process simplification, and accountability on deliverables.
- Site Management: Responsible for site management of the fuel unloading and transfer station; including, material receiving and delivery documentation, inventory tracking, delivery orders, environmental and safety compliance, and routine repairs. Responsible for daily/routine operation of the ARM & AFR program at Bath Cement Plant and monitoring inventory levels, ensuring optimum space utilization, and proper inventory rotation based on the “first in/first out” principle.Coordinate and complete calibration and repairs of analytical equipment on-site to maintain functionality and accuracy of all AFR streams.
- Quality & AFR Management: Coordinates the QA/QC program with the cement plant and Corporate QA/QC Manager and all other operational requirements (logistics, inventory, safety, etc.). Ensuring transfer of samples to the St-Constant laboratory, validating laboratory results, and analyzing output from laboratory equipment. Assure that H&S policy, all procedures and permits are respected. Maintain adherence to AFR policy, A-Cert, ISO, and OSHAS certifications.
- Logistics Management: Provide onsite leadership to all vendors and haulers that bring Alternate Fuels & Alternative Raw Materials to the plant ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow. Oversee AFR receptions with internal and external customers and carriers and ensure that transporters are Avetta certified.
- Leadership: Provide professional development/coaching to Geocycle & plant resources frequently and, where required, clarify roles and responsibilities for the Geocycle operations. Promote efficient teamwork with plant personnel.
- Reporting & Performance: Ensure the implementation and tracking of performance indicators and achieved results. Provide regular reports and updates to local and regional management as required. Ensure AFR information is accurately captured into WFMS, SAP, etc and drive compliance with permitted requirements at all times. Produce AFR reports and analysis, and give feedback to Commercial Manager, regarding profitability of each stream, as well as advise discontinuing of streams and re-negotiate economics in case some streams do not generate good EBITDA or GAV.
- Business Development & Account Management: Continue to develop and maintain current relationships with customers, suppliers, and carriers to ensure thriving long-lasting partnerships. In addition, in conjunction with the Commercial Manager for ECAN, look for opportunities to explore and develop new AFR streams to achieve the best sustainable value for the Bath cement operation and balance day-to-day management of existing accounts and waste streams with market development to secure new opportunities.
- Communication: Foster effective communication across the site with stakeholders and external partners.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement changes and monitor results.
- Risk Management: Identify, assess and mitigate risks to the AF and ARM usage including operational, financial and reputational risks.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification Profile
- Education: Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Environmental Studies/Production/Operations or equivalent professional experience.
- Field of Study Preferred: Business, Environmental Studies, Logistics, Operations.
- Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of progressive experience within a logistics, waste management, environmental, or industrial environment.
- Required Computer and Software Skills: SAP and Salesforce skills are considered an asset.
- Travel Requirements: <10%
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
