Objective & Overview:

Cement Plant Industrial Electrician involves the installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of various electrical, electronic and distribution equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety:  Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies/procedures ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
  2. Technical Skills: Required to read blueprints, read and interpret PLC logic, work on PLC components and troubleshoot.
  3. Operations:  Install, alter, repair, maintain various electrical systems and related equipment. Carry out basic electrical construction work (conduit, wiring, fixtures, etc)
  4. Troubleshooting:  Work as part of a team to troubleshoot and repair equipment, including disassembling and reassembling electrical equipment/machinery.
  5. Maintenance: Industrial Electricians inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, to ensure compliance with codes. Also are responsible to clean and perform other routine maintenance work on electrical equipments.


Relationship with Others

Electricians at the Brookfield plant will work together with other electricians, millwrights and production workers to accomplish assigned work tasks. 

Work indirectly with other supervisors/managers.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

Electricians at the Brookfield must complete the following:

  • Participate in plant safety including performing risk assessments before each job. 
  • Housekeeping of the jobs areas and maintenance shops.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Complete scheduled work on-time and with high quality performance.
  • Provide feedback to the Maintenance Staff for work improvements.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced team-oriented processing and manufacturing environment; with occasional overtime/weekend work


Dimensions:

Reports directly to the Electrical supervisor.

 

Qualification Profile:

All applicants must have their Industrial Electrician certification (preferred) from the college of trades or their interprovincial red seal certification. Accepting Construction red seal applications with the opportunity to obtain your Industrial Certification.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Electrician.  
  • Working knowledge of Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash protection requirements is required.
  • Good understanding of PLC troubleshooting and programming.
  • Knowledge and experience with Hydraulic or Pneumatic equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, Demonstrate problem-solving skills and Continuous learning mind set.

Physical Demands of the Role:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, grasp, handle, or feel.  The employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs & ladders, reach with hands and arms, work in awkward situations, balance, and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Must be trained and comfortable with Working at heights and Confined Spaces.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. 
  • Employees must perform work outdoors in all weather conditions, and will work around moving mechanical parts and equipment.  Various PPE will include safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves and hardhat.  Additional PPE may be required depending upon tasks.
