Objective & Overview
The labour operator works as part of an integral team responsible for the overall cleanliness andhousekeeping in a heavy duty industrial facility. Ensure that the different operating areas arecleaned in an efficient and safely manner. Works together with other departments to ensure a safe and continuous plant operation.


Responsibilities

  1. Ensure overall cleanliness and housekeeping in the plant operating areas
  2. Operate mobile equipment such as: forklift, skid steer, tele handler, sweeper, man lift and scissor lift
  3. Help other departments as a safety watch for jobs related to working at heights, confined space and/or hot work
  4. Ensure the safety of our people and the safe operation of the plant's equipment
  5. Follow standard operating procedures to guarantee safe operations
  6. Perform safety field level risk assessments and pre-use inspections on different equipment
  7. Report any safety incident, near miss, accident, unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors and take the proper immediate actions if required


Relationship with Others

  • Yard Supervisor – Coordinate and receive instructions. Report activities performed, tools and equipment conditions and/or requirements. Report any safety incident or condition.
  • Maintenance Operators – Coordinate and help to clean equipment to be ready to be worked on. Work as safety watch for jobs related to working at heights, confined space and/or hot work
  • Labour Operators – Coordinate and work together in the activities assigned
  • Production operators – Coordinate and help to clean equipment to be operated. Work as safety watch for jobs related to working at heights and/or confined
  • Quarry operators – Coordinate and help to clean equipment to be operated. Work as safety watch for jobs related to working at heights and/or confined
  • Production Manager – Report activities performed, tools and equipment conditions and/or requirements. Report any safety incident or condition.
  • Maintenance Manager – Report activities performed, tools and equipment conditions and/or requirements. Report any safety incident or condition.
  • Maintenance Supervisor – Report activities performed, tools and equipment conditions and/or requirements. Report any safety incident or condition.
  • Quarry Supervisor – Report activities performed, tools and equipment conditions and/or requirements. Report any safety incident or condition.


Specific Accountabilities:

  • Clean material spills in the production areas
  • Move contaminated materials
  • Empty waste material containers
  • Clean production equipment in preparation for maintenance activities
  • Remove ice and snow during winter time and ensure safe working conditions throughout the plant
  • Operate mobile equipment such as: forklift, skid steer, tele handler, sweeper, man lift and scissor lift
  • Paint different areas of the plant as required
  • Clean and maintain green areas
  • Perform cleaning activities in plant equipment to prevent damage
  • Help other departments as a safety watch for jobs related to working at heights, confined space and/or hot work
  • Perform safety field level risk assessments and pre-use inspections on different equipment and activities to perform
  • Use PPE correctly in the designated areas
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and safety policies
  • Report any safety incidents, accidents and unsafe conditions
  • Participate in all the assigned training, safety meeting and toolbox talks.

Qualification Profile

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, technical post-secondary education would be an asset but not mandatory
  • Must hold a valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Proven work experience in an industrial facility would be an asset but not mandatory
  • Experience working with manual tools and/or basic mobile equipment like forklift and skid steer
  • Have a team player attitude
  • Must be safety–oriented
  • Must be able to follow instructions, rules and regulations is essential
  • Must be able to work Monday to Friday 07:30 – 16:00 Hrs.
  • Must be willing and able to perform work that includes manual lifting, carrying and moving tools and equipment; intermittent walking and standing; regular bending
  • Must participate in all contractual, legislative or corporately mandated training
  • Must be able to use power/hand tools and other equipment and machinery


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to perform medium to heavy tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling on a frequent basis
