Junior Compensation Analyst

Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the compensation programs and works closely with the Compensation Manager and senior compensation analyst. The incumbent must have a strong customer focus, business understanding, and time management skills.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Safety

Market Evaluations and Data Analysis
- Conducts job evaluations and salary recommendations at multiple levels and degrees of complexity.
- Maintains a database of all job descriptions and evaluations.
- Responsible for completing salary surveys and leading and conducting market/custom survey submissions for Canada and the US, as required.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of compensation design, practices, and policies.
- Researches changing/emerging compensation-related industry trends; may be required to present findings occasionally.
- Help maintain the job architecture framework, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Bonus & Merit Programs
- Maintains internal database of current employee data for bonus files along with proration for employee changes and bonus plan details.
- Supports the annual bonus and merit increase program for all Canadian employees, including analysis, letter preparation and ongoing administration.
- Supports the completion of the non-union hourly annual increase campaign.
- Prepares/maintains administrative procedures and policy documentation related to compensation and benefits.
- Adheres to internal controls, ensuring efficient, effective administration of the program that supports business objectives and adheres to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Projects & Reporting
- Manages monthly and ad-hoc reporting requirements for the compensation and total rewards teams.
- Prepare basic compensation reports and metrics for review by senior analysts and management.
- Participates in the development and implementation of compensation projects.
- Provides support in conducting Pay Equity reviews and maintenance across unionized and non-unionized locations in relevant jurisdictions across Canada to ensure continued compliance with legislative requirements.
- Maintain awareness of changes in relevant legislation and support updates to policies as needed.
- Provides direct support to the Sr. Compensation Analyst and Manager in Canada and in the US as requested.
- Support the Sr. Compensation & Benefits Manager in conducting comprehensive benefits analysis to understand employee needs and preferences.
- Assist in data collection and analysis to provide insights for informed decision-making regarding benefits programs.
- Other administrative duties, as assigned.
Relationships with Others Jobs:
- Internally - develop and maintain relationships with HR Managers and the Shared Services Centre to ensure appropriate solutions in support of client group requirements.
Qualification Profile
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as statistics, finance, or human resources.
- 1-2 years of relevant work experience in compensation or analysis.
- Working towards CPHR/CHRL designation or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is an asset.
- Knowledge of job evaluation methodologies (e.g., Korn Ferry/Hay) is desirable.
- Possess intermediate-level Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables)
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
