ABOUT THE ROLE 

Lafarge Construction, based in Coquitlam, BC, is currently seeking a full-time Concrete Finisher - Lead Hand to join our team for municipal concrete projects. As a Concrete Finisher - Lead Hand, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction of concrete curbs, sidewalks, and other municipal structures. If you have strong leadership abilities and a background in concrete construction, we encourage you to apply for this position.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of concrete crew members, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high-quality standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of work sites, including setting up forms, pouring concrete, and finishing surfaces.
  • Operate and maintain concrete construction equipment and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior crew members to develop their skills and expertise in concrete construction.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements are met.

  • Monitor quality control and ensure that all work meets industry standards and client expectations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in concrete construction, with a focus on municipal projects.
Required Technical Skills: Basic aptitude for using applications. Must be tech-savvy with the ability to use Build2Win, SiteDocs and other programs.
Travel Requirements: 5%  
Additional Requirements: 

  • Strong leadership abilities and the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team.
  • Proficiency in concrete forming, pouring, and finishing techniques.
  • Knowledge of concrete curing methods, and surface treatments.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Valid driver & license and reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
