ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Terminal Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing terminal operating duties to ensure smooth and efficient operations, running and maintaining all of our heavy equipment as well as our stationary equipment, additionally they will be required to operate a class 1 super b tanker when needed. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Safely and effectively perform facility tasks: loading and unloading trailers of asphalt cement

  • Show competency in transferring of products from different locations within the facility

  • Contribute by operating different types of equipment throughout the year for our salt depot

  • Maintain our Class 1 truck and trailer combo through pretrips, routine maintenance, and post trip inspections

  • Safely and effectively deliver hot asphalt product throughout the lower mainland, and Vancouver Island. Doing so while maintaining a sense of professionalism and adhering to the site specific, traffic laws, and companywide safety regulations

  • Take part in developing and redeveloping safe work procedures for all tasks preformed

  • Participate in our daily, weekly, and monthly safety reporting. This includes field level risk assessments, pretrips, daily production and safety meetings, weekly safety meetings as well as monthly safety meetings.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: 3-5 years of hauling liquid asphalt and or operating super b tankers

Required Training/Certifications: Class 1 driver’s license with air endorsement, valid transportation of dangerous goods, and a heavy trailer endorsement

Travel Requirements: All driving is considered local

Additional Requirements:

  • Leadership experience considered an asset

  • Comfortable using our safety reporting software on company provided devices

  • Available for some extended overtime shifts and weekend work

  • Safely transport liquid asphalt to various locations within the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island in compliance with all traffic regulations and site safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, terminal operations, and any incidents or maintenance issues.

  • Ensure timely and efficient delivery while maintaining a high level of professional service.

  • Adhere to Lafarge’s high level safety standards, and procedures at all times, particularly when handling hazardous materials

  • Operate terminal equipment for unloading, storage, and transfer of liquid asphalt.

  • Operate heavy equipment at our facility in all capacities 

  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance checks to ensure trucks and equipment are in safe operating condition.

  • Collaborate with the terminal team to ensure smooth loading and unloading processes.

  • Assist with terminal operations, including loading, unloading, and general facility upkeep.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned within our operations

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
