ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the incumbent follows the team’s commitment to safety excellence, drive to be the employer of choice, focus on the industry leading service and solutions. The Sales Representative is responsible for growing the RMX business from Airdrie to Red Deer, focusing on customer bases of all sizes, managing accounts as assigned, interacting with decision makers while achieving sale performance targets.
The Sales Representative is the contact for all projects in the assigned areas and strategic accounts, and is to promote Lafarge products, services and solutions through daily onsite visits with customers. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Sales Representative must also work closely with Safety, Operations, Quality Control, Finance, and Customer are and Logistics Centre (CCLC). The Sales Representative is responsible for growing RMX business in Central Alberta and greater Calgary areas, focusing on customer needs for all customer base, managing accounts and relationships, interacting with decision makers while achieving sales performance targets.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Utilize solution-based selling to maintain strong customer relationships and be proactive in understanding customer needs.
- Maintain a strong grasp of all competitors’ actions, prices and strategies.
- Develop action plans and establish objectives and goals to meet the divisional targets.
- Represent the company within various economic and social organizations.
- Interact with Order Desk & Dispatch personnel as part of the team aspects.
- Develop new customers and leverage relationships to grow customer base.
- Meet and exceed sales and service objectives in assigned territory.
- Track and report market information pertaining to customer, projects and competitor activities.
- Business development - explore and develop local market opportunities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: University Degree or Technical Diploma.
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Business or Engineering.
Required Work Experience: Sales experience in the construction industry, or direct construction experience is considered an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: N/A
Required Technical Skills: Salesforce Lightning System, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite.
Travel Requirements: 30-40%

- Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of plants, trucks and equipment.
- Must have excellent computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems as the job requires.
- Experience using Sales Force Lightning system preferred.
- Ability to multitask in a high stress/high demand environment.
- Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Dedication, reliability, and determination to learn and grow the business.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
