ABOUT THE ROLE

As a member of the Dundas site team, Plant Operator Assistants will execute the daily tasks of operating and maintaining plant equipment in accordance with Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies as well as perform all administration related to the equipment’s operation.  This role operates under a 1-week rotational schedule (Days, Nights, Afternoons).

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example.   
  • Performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies/procedures ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.   
  • Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.   
  • Types of equipment on site: crushers, conveyors, rock trucks, front end loader, bulldozer, grader, drills   
  • Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program to ensure maintenance is scheduled and completed as required.   
  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.   
  • Manual Labour is required.   
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent   
  • Industrial plant operation experience an asset   
  • Heavy equipment operation experience an asset


Additional Requirements:

  • Specific mobile equipment training   
  • Specific Modules Surface Miner training   
  • Heavy equipment training course   
  • Mechanical aptitude   
  • Computer literacy an asset   
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Lafarge approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”)
