ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Bridge Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily bridge operations, coordinating and organizing crews for production and maintenance. The Bridge Superintendent, working closely with the Project Manager, is responsible for ensuring inventories of supplies and materials are maintained and the bridge is being operated safely, on budget and in compliance with specifications and customer expectations.
 
The Bridge Superintendent contributes to organizational excellence by continually promoting a culture of agility, collaboration and empowerment enabling continuous improvement.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure and promote safe working conditions by enforcing all health, safety, and environmental regulations, while providing visible and consistent safety leadership across all levels of personnel.
  • Oversee and manage the full project lifecycle, including scheduling all phases of construction, monitoring progress against timelines, and updating schedules to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Lead daily coordination of crews, equipment, and materials, supporting foremen with task planning and ensuring efficient resource allocation to maintain productivity and quality standards.
  • Monitor project performance through regular job cost reviews and reporting, identifying deficiencies and addressing potential issues proactively to stay within budget and meet financial targets.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors through effective communication, consistent site presence, and regular project meetings.
  • Supervise and mentor foremen, ensuring they follow established procedures, adhere to quality specifications, and develop leadership skills necessary for team success.
  • Oversee documentation, including accurate and timely reporting of time, production, material usage, and compliance with company and client requirements.
  • Ensure coordination between operations, subcontractors, and support departments to resolve maintenance and operational issues, and maintain alignment with quality and budget expectations.
  • Enforce compliance with environmental regulations, community communication requirements, and all relevant safety procedures, including participation in audits, investigations, and joint safety committees.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma 
Field of Study Preferred: N/A
Required Work Experience:Minimum of 5 years of bridge construction experience. Supervisory experience would be an asset. Experience in the asphalt/aggregate industry and unionized environments preferred
Travel Requirements: N/A
Required Technical Skills: Computer proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Proven record of following safe work procedures and completing field risk assessments
  • Must exercise sound judgment, work safely, and communicate effectively in a team environment
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
