Position Summary:

 

The Controller is the “Business Partner” on the “Market Leadership Team” to assist in the development and implementation of market area objectives and strategies and to ensure there is effective control in the financial management reporting systems.  The Controller is responsible for coordinating and preparing accurate monthly reports, forecasts, progress performance plans, budgets, capital and other financial information.  This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and works to improve understanding of key business drivers and maximize results within the product line.  Identification and implementation of best practices comprise a key component of this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:                  
•    Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments
•    Manage accounting and reporting functions of the business including preparation of management presentations
•    Interpret events and activities from a financial perspective
•    Maintain proper financial and accounting controls
•    Work closely with the business to prepare annual budgeting and forecasting activities
•    Interact and collaborate with plant management
•    Build or review strategic and business plans (MTP)
•    Analyze and provide recommendations
•    Participate in the annual progress performance plan 
•    Oversee adherence to company policies
•    Work in concert with the finance team to drive standardization of activities across the product lines
•    Liaise with Service Centers to ensure collaborative achievement of Finance objectives
•    Change agent for process and system improvements
•    Manage the inventory at several sites through monthly balance review and reconciliation of results to physical
•    Reconciliation of asset and liability accounts for all transactions and ensure all balances are accurately stated in the Corporation’s balance sheet. 
•    Ad hoc requests as needed

•    Effective linkage of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with financial reporting
•    Timely monthly management reporting
•    Effective flagging of business issues based on financial analyses
•    Enhance the safety culture of Lafarge
 

Qualification Profile:

 

Education & Work Experience:
•    Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
•    5+ years of financial management experience with increasing responsibility and complex roles
•    Professional accounting designation preferred (CMA, CGA, CPA or CA)
•    Operational and Shared Services Finance experience, preferred
•    Job Cost Experience, an asset
•    Key user SAP experience, an asset
