Screed Operator

ABOUT THE ROLE
Lafarge Construction is seeking a seasonal, full-time Screed Operator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring high-quality asphalt paving operations while maintaining safety, efficiency, and teamwork on job sites. The successful candidate will operate the screed on a paver, monitor material production, and contribute to the overall success of our paving operations.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Fully trained in the operations and capability of the screed on a paver.

Work as part of a team to operate the paver efficiently.

Perform repair and maintenance on the paver under the direction of the plant foreman or lead hand.

Ensure accurate thickness of asphalt and monitor material production within specifications.

Ensure consistent feed to maintain a quality product.

Assist with various job site operations as needed.

Create an atmosphere of teamwork and seek out best practices.

Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Min 2 years of experience operating a screed
Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Required Technical Skills: Knowledge of City of Edmonton Specifications, Ability to read survey markings
Travel Requirements: Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding area
Additional Requirements:

Mechanically inclined with experience in basic equipment maintenance.

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.

Proven ability to follow safe work procedures and complete field risk assessments.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
