Overview:

Lafarge is recruiting a Temp Yard Labourer at our Exshaw Cement Plant Labourers are responsible for aiding in all areas of the plant. They participate in housekeeping, maintenance and other various tasks throughout the plant. A high level of safety practices must be used at all times.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Receive oral instructions to determine work assignments.

  • Perform general construction labor to include jobsite clean-up and moving of materials by hand.

  • Operating motorized equipment including power tools, grinders, saws, hammers, etc. 

  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

  • May assist with minor repairs and maintenance.

  • Remove rubble and other debris in the facility.

  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education Required: 

  • High School Diploma

Years of Experience: 

  • 1-2 years construction experience is preferred

Specific Experience:

  • Prior experience in and industrial setting would be an asset

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors and in a noisy plant setting

  • Safety Oriented

  • Able to lift 50 lbs

  • Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment

  • Willing to work overtime and shifts when needed

  • Able to work unsupervised

  • Able to work well with others

  • Good communication skills
