Objective
As a member of the Lafarge Guelph Crew, the Mobile Equipment Operator will operate mobile equipment (wheel loader) to load highway trucks, manage inbound Rubble Pile as well maintain the RDM plant feed bins in accordance with Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies as well as perform all administration related to the equipment’s operation.
The typical shift is approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasionally, weekend work, with earlier and longer days may be required due to the RDM schedule.
Home base location: 7051 Wellington Rd 124, Guelph, Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front end loader. Duties will include but not be limited to loading highway trucks, maintaining a dump site and feeding the plant.
- Safety: Promote safety culture through engagement with fellow employees and subcontractors. Implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Environmental Management: Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines. Report and manage environmental spills to site management as they occur. Operate equipment effectively to minimize carbon footprint of machinery.
- Equipment: Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site. Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure the site is presentable.

Specific Accountabilities:
- Safety: Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments,
- Maintenance: daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection process, prioritize deficiencies as they occur
Qualification Profile:
The ideal candidate for this role will be a team player, able to work well independently and have a strong commitment to safety. Experience as a shipping or production loader is a must. Experience with general maintenance and operation of an aggregate site and equipment would be an asset.
Education & Work Experience:
- Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Industrial plant operation experience is an asset
- Industrial plant maintenance experience is an asset
- Requires heavy mobile equipment operation experience
- Valid “G” license is mandatory
Knowledge & Skills:
- Specific mobile equipment training
- Common Core Surface Miner training.
- Cat 980 Operator Training Course
