Objective
As a member of the Lafarge Portable Crushing Crew, the Portable Crushing Operator will operate the Mobile Crusher & equipment (wheel loader/Skid Steer) to feed plant and perform general labor duties on the ground by Lafarge’s Best Practices and Policies as well as perform all administration related to the equipment’s operation. 

 

The typical shift is approximately 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasionally, weekend work may be required during mobilization (set up/moving/tear down)

 

Home base location:4024 HWY 6 Hagersville, Ontario. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a front end loader, skid steer and Crusher. Duties will include but not be limited to maintaining equipment/maintenance and feeding the plant. 
  • Safety: Promote a safety culture through engagement with fellow employees and subcontractors. Implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.  
  • Environmental Management: Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines. Report and manage environmental spills to site management as they occur. Operate equipment effectively to minimize carbon footprint of machinery. 
  • Equipment: Ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices. 
  • Other: Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site. Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure the site is presentable.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety: Near Miss and HI process, MVA’s, FA’s, MI’s, LTI’s, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, 
  • Maintenance: daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspection process, prioritize deficiencies as they occur

 

Qualification Profile:
The ideal candidate for this role will be a team player, able to work well independently and have a strong commitment to safety. Experience as a shipping or production loader is a must. Experience with general maintenance and operation of an aggregate site and equipment would be an asset.

 

Education & Work Experience:

  • Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Crushing plant operation experience is an asset 
  • Crushing plant maintenance experience is an asset
  • Requires heavy mobile equipment operation experience 
  • Valid “G” license is mandatory

  • Specific mobile equipment training
