Objective & Overview
The Country Accounting and Reporting Financial Analyst is part of the Country Eastern Canada Finance Team. This role will be responsible for the coordination of internal and external audit inquiries within the Eastern Canada Finance team, manages variance analysis as part of month-end, quarterly and annual cycles, and supports various accounting and analysis at the Eastern Canada level. The Analyst works closely with, and in support of the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Financial Audit and Accounting: coordination with internal and external audit teams of any inquiries, collaborating closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during audit processes in accordance with regulatory requirement (SoX controls and US GAAP)
  2. Internal Control Processes: support the design of processes, related documentation and leads implementation where appropriate
  3. Month end Activities, Reconciliations and Reporting: perform month end activities including Flux variance analysis, quarterly analytical, reconciliations and other reporting requirements. Coordination of the month-end reporting deliverables required for Notes packages disclosures in accordance to US GAAP 
  4. Financial Statement classification Compliance: Coordinate, analyze and reconcile accounts in liaison with the Eastern Canada Finance team and shared services team.  Monitor key accounts to ensure appropriate classification of transactions. Coordination of new account creation, account assignment maintenance and monitoring the chart of accounts to ensure proper accounting treatment in compliance with US GAAP.
  5. Adhoc Requirements: Working on special projects, researching and preparing technical accounting memos on new scenarios including unusual accounting transactions/treatment in liaison with corporate accounting team
  6. System Development: Participate in the development and implementation of financial reporting systems and processes, ensuring they meet the organization’s audit needs and comply with accounting standards. Systems include SAP ECC, SAC and Tagetik.  Other tools include Qliksense and Qlickview.
  7. Safety: Communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments


Relationship with Others

  • Actively works with the FP&A manager, financial directors, and CFO.  
  • Actively works with internal audit teams and corporate accounting teams.
  • Collaborating with shared services and North America functional teams (Internal control, Treasury, Tax, Insurance, Legal)

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Adheres to health and safety practices and policies 
  • Core accounting experience (audit), memos, reconciliations and USGAAP.  
  • Support of month end close & related activities 
  • Timely delivery of analytical & Ad hoc request in support of country reporting
  • Continuous process improvement including automation & efficiency  

 

Qualification Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting or Business/Commerce degree
  • Completion of a Professional accounting program (CA, CMA, CGA or CPA) preferred
  • Audit firm experience, required
  • 3 - 5 years professional experience required
  • Strong US GAAP knowledge and reporting experience 
  • Knowledge of accounting within the manufacturing and/or construction industry preferred
  • SAC/SAP ECC experience an asset
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills- verbal and written
  • Advanced MS Excel and Access skills for reporting and data analysis
  • Advanced MS Powerpoint skills for presentation to senior management
  • Demonstrated ability in financial/business analysis
