Objective:

The Health & Safety Systems Administrator role is a temporary contract role responsible for leading and supporting the development and execution of various health & safety programs and initiatives.  The successful candidate will provide ongoing support to H&S functions and monitor and analyze H&S performance for the region. This individual will gain exposure and assist in rolling out to a wide variety of administrative development projects like Monthly Product Line H&S Communication packages and Newsletters, H&S training material/programs, and data collection and analysis using their excellent design, layout and other graphic skills.  The successful candidate will be expected to interact regularly with members of the H&S team and also with local market operations to support the rollout and sustainability of programs which are tracked through ongoing data collection and reporting.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Health and Safety: Promotes positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies/procedures ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors. Expected to be part of local JHSC.
  2. Safety Administration: Compile, develop and distribute monthly H&S communication packages and newsletters. Analyze monthly market H&S data, identify trends, and propose targeted visuals for effective communication. Regular upkeep & designing of Safety webpage & related drill downs.
  3. Training programs: Support the development of H&S training programs and upload them into our LMS software ‘Convergence’.  Also, support the local programs & training team in rolling new initiatives on digital platforms.
  4. Operations Support: Interact with local market operations and plant managers to gather information relevant to the implementation of H&S initiatives and assist in publishing such initiatives using myriad communication tools. Guide local operations with company health and safety dashboards, systems.

 

Relationships with Others’ Jobs:

Reporting to the Sr. Health & Safety Analyst, the Health and safety administrator interacts with 

  • Other members of the Health and Safety team, Plant Managers, Operations Managers. 
  • Works closely with other Plant Staff, Maintenance, Distribution, Quality, and Area Safety Staff

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Safety – Safety performance objective is “Zero”
  • Communications – Time based design and delivery of safety information to the frontline
  • Administration – Managing safety information relating to company operations in Canada

Qualification Profile:

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Completed degree or diploma in related field OR currently enrolled in a College or University program in a related field.
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its associated regulations including but not limited to mining regulations, industrial regulations, first aid regulation, WHMIS, JHSC
  • Experience in creating visuals for diverse products, such as websites, newsletters, posters is a prerequisite
  • Exposure with digital platforms like Apps & other in house safety systems would be preferred

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to work with Canva, or similar designing platforms is a must
  • Intimate skill with presentation systems such as PowerPoint, Google Slides
  • Having a good eye for design and aesthetics to create well-thought-out presentations
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel
  • Basic data analysis skills required
  • Outgoing and positive personality
  • Proven capability to coordinate projects in a time bound and professional manner
  • Self-motivated to plan and implement daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Webpage/ website designing experience preferred
  • Able to rapidly acquire departmental specifications for health and safety-related matters
