Overview

Primary responsibility is to participate in planning, building, managing, monitoring and supporting infrastructure landscapes including OS, servers, storage, databases, backups, at on-premise remote server locations, following policies and processes that are compliant with industry standards (e.g. Information technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)). This role may also collaborate with other teams in infrastructure design during new solution implementations. This role will document infrastructure landscapes, assist with escalated incidents, and mentor other employees. Applies developed knowledge of technical skills, company policies and procedures, to complete a variety of difficult assignments/tasks. Works on assignments that are difficult in nature and requires problem solving skills and independent judgement with little supervision.

 

Responsibilities

  • Incident Management - Monitor systems and identify performance issues reactively. Follows standard protocols for troubleshooting standard incidents. Verify system/product operations. Works within strict time scales and elevates incidents within defined time windows.
  • Product Installation - Perform routine installations, configurations per standard protocols. Assemble and integrate system/products
  • Operations Maintenance - Perform routine maintenance.
    • ESX, Windows, and virtual environment management and support
    • Storage Area Network management and support
    • Data backup management and support
    • Active Directory management & Support
    • Microsoft related services management and support (DHCP, DNS, DFS, etc...).
    • Monitors and manages backup/restore and disaster recovery plans
    • Infrastructure security
  • Monitoring system performance to be proactive to possible system failures
  • Resolve procedural, operational, and technical problems
  • Interact with other Holcim Group companies to leverage and develop Holcim “Best Practices” for technologies supporting portfolio applications
  • Collaborate with business representatives, Architects, process area Business Relationship, Application Support Leads, Business Services for portfolio related strategic planning, status, architecture and integration activities
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Education:  High School diploma/GED
  • Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's/University Degree
  • Preferred field of study:  Computer Science/Information Systems      
  • Work Experience:  3-5 years
  • Travel Requirements:  Travel less than 15%

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Licences/Certifications:  VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or equivalent experience.
  • Computer Skills:  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and/or Google Sheets

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: 

  • Experience with VMware ESX and Windows Operating Systems, Virtual environments
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks, Microsoft services (AD, DHCP, DNS, etc…),
  • Familiar with Citrix solutions, DHCP, DNS, DFS and NTP, High Availability, and tape backup solutions
  • Familiar with network architecture and infrastructure security
  • Backup/restore experience
  • Able to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be available to work on an on-call basis as scheduled by management
  • Must be available 24x7 to respond to critical incidents or business impacting project deliverables
