Overview

Lafarge is looking for a high-performing individual with a long-term outlook on becoming a business leader in the industry and within the organization. The Operations Process Manager’s objective is to support the GTA Operations Manager in establishing short and long range departmental goals and to increase the maturity of various systems across the business including the ROCK Operating Modules, ROCK Management Toolkit, Financial Forecasting, Housekeeping and the Health & Safety Management Systems (HSMS). The incumbent is responsible for the leadership, management and digital transformation of the key systems that drive operational success and excellence to achieve the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production within a culture that is performance oriented and holds Health & Safety as a core value.

 

Responsibilities

Health & Safety:

  • The Operations Process Manager ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed with the utmost focus on health & safety and by proactively implementing Lafarge ECAN best practices and compliance with Group requirements.
  • The incumbent promotes safety culture through engagement and training programs with employees and subcontractors, implementation and management of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero harm”.
  • He or she must develop, administer and promote safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that sites meet or exceed all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines/standards.
  • They are also responsible for leading the GTA HSMS and management of the GTA operational safety and training specialists.

 

Leadership:

  • The Operations Process Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coaching, mentoring, leadership, and overall success and performance of his or her team and their activities.
  • The incumbent achieves this by demonstrating role model qualities and with proactive employee engagement activities, continuous development, and regular check-ins with direct reports.
  • He or she must participate in the annual succession planning and talent review processes to ensure a solid talent pipeline and evaluate internal bench strength.

 

Production Management:

  • The Operations Process Manager develops and implements processes, strategies and tools to plan and track budgets, forecasts, maintenance, production and shipping performance to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • The incumbent must promote and support daily, weekly and monthly communication process to drive group efficiencies and manage production performance.
  • By working with the operations team and the ECAN Manufacturing team, the Process and Data Manager will analyze capital needs and requests.
  • The Process and Data Manager works closely with plant managers to develop digital, analytical and technical skills to improve inventory and production forecasting and management.

 

Financial Management:

  • The incumbent must coordinate, drive, and track financial performance using local/regional tools, develop, implement and manage annual repair budgets, support financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • The Operations Process Manager must work closely with the local Production Analyst to manage production forecast to balance inventories and sales needs to manage working capital impact.

 

Digital Transformation:

  • The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of digital tools across all operational functions.
  • These tools will increase process efficiency, system compliance, and bring a data driven approach into our work culture.

 

Community Relations:

  • The Operations Process Manager develops and maintains effective relationships within the community by participating in local activities, events and committees through partnerships within the industry, local associations and the business community.
  • The incumbent assists to ensure that a plant image guideline exists to promote a professional image in a standard and consistent manner across ECAN and is well implemented / enforced.

 

Relationship with Others:

  • Works closely with the ECAN Manufacturing staff to ensure manufacturing best practices and tools are fully utilized across the market area.
  • Work with Safety to develop and maintain a culture of safety
  • Works closely with Area Finance to ensure costs are budgeted, forecasted and accurate
  • Works closely with the Supply Chain and Distribution Staff to ensure efficient management of production costs & inventories.

 

Specific Accountabilities:

  • All Operational Systems and Processes including:
    • Maintenance Module
    • RMT
    • HSMS
  • A consistent housekeeping system for the market and reinforces this proactive and systematic approach through consistent follow-up during site visits and through his/her behaviours and actions
  • Digital improvements across the market
  • Assists in the development of annual operations plans
  • Detailed weekly production forecast and Monthly Financial Reviews
  • Market CERs
  • Contractor Safety Management and operational training programs

  • Budget: $90M
  • Production: 12.5M tonnes of aggregate production
  • Direct Reports: 3 / Indirect Reports: 8
  • 6 fixed plant operations and 6 modular operations

 

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree in business, marketing, or engineering/science.
  • A minimum of five years Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment
