ABOUT THE ROLE 
Reporting to the GM of Vancouver Island, the Field Operations Superintendent oversees the company’s safety and environmental systems as it applies to successful product manufacturing and delivery, project management, and client satisfaction.  This role supports the operations to ensure Lafarge continues to lead the way in safety and environmental excellence and employer of choice. 


The Field Operations Superintendent is to provide support to both the hourly and salary employees in respect to plant and jobsite safety as well as other tasks related to safety and environment.  This is conducted by providing onsite support for operators as well as participating in project hazard assessments in partnership with the Supervisors; both prior to the job commencing and on an ongoing basis.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure all training certifications are valid, and re-schedule when required.
  • Conducting inspections and audits.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, liaise with regulatory authorities, and ensure compliance.
  • Track Division’s safety leading and lagging indicators and communicate to senior management team.
  • Execute corporate and Division specific policies, and safety initiatives to improve overall safety performance.
  • Coach and train Managers and Supervisors on internal and external safety policies and programs.
  • Maintaining/Improving COR Certification.
  • Oversee all projects to ensure safety and environment compliance for product delivery.
  • Manage the Division’s Contractor Management Program auditing procedures and process to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide suggested controls for risks associated with acquired jobs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Technical Diploma and/or equivalent field experience. 
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. 
Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of industry related safety experience.
Required Training/Certifications: N/A
Required Technical Skills: Microsoft Suite.
Travel Requirements: 0-10%

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
