ABOUT THE ROLE

Lafarge Canada is currently hiring Asphalt Paving Crew  to join our road construction team in Saskatoon, SK. This position is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with asphalt paving operations, including raking, shoveling, rolling, and operating small equipment. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork while contributing to high-performance asphalt paving operations.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Perform duties such as raking, luting, and shoveling asphalt material to ensure a smooth, level surface.

  • Operate small equipment such as plate compactors, power brooms, saws, and skid steers as needed.

  • Assist in the placement and rolling of asphalt according to specifications, using hand tools and machinery.

  • Ensure joints, edges, and surfaces are finished properly for compaction and smoothness.

  • Set up and take down work zones, including traffic control signage and devices.

  • Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Work collaboratively with the paving crew to maintain continuous paving operations and minimize downtime.

  • Follow safe work practices, procedures, and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOREducation: 

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in asphalt paving or road construction

Required Training/Certifications: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required; Class 1 or 3 with Air Brakes Endorsement preferred; safety certifications (CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid) are assets

Preferred Technical Skills: Ability to use paving tools and equipment effectively; knowledge of paving techniques, asphalt materials, and compaction requirements

Travel Requirements: Knowledge of the City of Saskatoon and surrounding area

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to work in fast-pace environment

  • Must be physically fit for repetitive tasks, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.

  • Perform general other labour duties as required.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
