ABOUT THE ROLE 
We are recruiting for a General Manager role based in the BC Interior, with preferred locations in Kelowna or Vernon, BC.

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the General Manager (GM) is a P&L business leader responsible for the operations of Aggregate, Ready-Mix, and Asphalt & Paving business units across the Okanagan Valley and Prince George. This role encompasses safety, environmental compliance, sales, customer relations, personnel management, employee development, budget oversight, and business growth.

 

The GM operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, driving business strategy execution while maximizing profitability and optimizing resources. The GM ensures that products and services meet Lafarge’s world-class standards and supports a culture that prioritizes health and safety.

Salary Range - $160,000 - $190,000 with eligibility to earn a bonus of up to an additional 50% of base salary.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Set long-term goals and strategic plans based on market  trends, competition, and available resources
  • Establish financial and operational targets and monitor process to achieve them. Prepare and manage financial budgets and forecasts.
  • Drive profitability through strategic product, service, and cost management
  • Identify market strengths, opportunities, and threats to position the business favorably
  • Manage pricing strategies and supplier relationships
  • Monitor market conditions and adjust business strategies to maximize value
  • Set performance goals, provide feedback, and foster employee development
  • Negotiate union contracts
  • Lead project management for plant modifications and capital projects. Negotiate and manage agreements with subcontractors. 
  • Collaborate with operations managers plant managers, sales teams, and support functions (Finance, HSE, HR, Credit)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent technical/business diploma
Additional Education Preferred: Professional designation or certification preferred
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering or Business
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior management experience

Additional Requirements: 

  • Strong commercial acumen and proven experience in driving commercial strategy
  • Proven leadership, including direct union management.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and change management skills.
  • Analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to engage with senior-level stakeholders to promote Lafarge products and image.
  • Experience fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven track record in managing financial performance and business growth.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
