Holcim is planning to spin-off its North American Business to unleash its full potential, capitalizing on North America’s oversized growth in construction led by the modernization of infrastructure, a surge in advanced manufacturing and AI operation and the growth of resilient cities.

ABOUT THE ROLE 
The Operations Manager, RMX,will be responsible for the daily operations of the ready-mix business in the BC Interior including the promotion of the brand and products. The Operations Manager will execute and provide leadership on the strategic business model while maximizing profits and optimizing resources.  This business leader will provide world class customer service by upholding all company commitments, policies and standards and demonstrating a strong culture of health and safety.   

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • To manage the activities of the ready-mix operations including budgeting, production, sales, land management and customer relations.
  • Sales and Marketing; including the development and maintenance of the customer base; overseeing and directing pricing strategies; maintaining and managing customer relationships; maintaining effective community and government relations.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with other product lines in the Okanagan region ensuring synergy, which achieves a strategic and competitive advantage for Lafarge.
  • Set up short- and long-term plans to ensure the planned growth of the division and remain compatible with all other market forces and competitors.  This includes the targeted utilization of the mobile plant offering. 
  • Develop and update annual budgets, forecasts, objectives and capital expenditure plans. Develop and implement strategic plans and reviews.
  • Administer and monitor the safety, training and overall safe work practices are conducted at all our operations and locations.
  • Management of Human Resources including hiring and dismissal; promotion; training & development; negotiate and manage labour contracts; maintain and encourage positive relationships between management, employees and the union; promote and foster teamwork; implement, monitor and enforce compliance with company safety and environmental programs.
  • Monitors operational effectiveness through analysis of Key Performance Indicators
  • Maintain and develop new market opportunities
  • Build, maintain and develop the Form Supply business, including pricing and commercial activities across the Okanagan region.  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Strong knowledge of and understanding related to company products, processes and equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of construction equipment crews and asphalt plants.
  • Good leadership and motivational skills 
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
