ABOUT THE ROLE
Shift Supervisor oversees the day, afternoon, or night shift activities at Stouffville, our largest Sand and Gravel operation in Eastern Canada, and become an integral part of our team.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

 

Safety Culture:

  • Develop and instill a site level safety culture through consistent engagement with employees and contractors with an objective of “zero” harm.
  • Lead daily huddles and participates with the JHSC to demonstrate commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ensure front line employee compliance to Lafarge safety policies, programs, and legislative requirements.   
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Investigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

 

Operational Excellence:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the production team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure quality and adherence to production targets.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures and quality control standards.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of operational improvements.
  • Complete daily production reports and other required documentation accurately and on time.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the shift team.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Participate in the training and development of new and existing employees.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours. 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • College Diploma or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within the construction materials, mining, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.   
  • Knowledge of production processes and equipment in a sand and gravel operation is an asset.


Additional Requirements:

  • Location: Stouffville, Ontario, Canada
  • Schedule: Rotational shifts (days, afternoons, and nights as required, including weekends)
  • Travel: Minimal
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
