ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager GVA RMX, the Operations Support Coordinator supports a local team of Plant Managers responsible for the Metro Vancouver Ready Mix including the planning and coordinating the concrete plants within the area to achieve all targets, budgets, objectives and goals while maintaining a safe work environment.
 
The Operations Support Coordinator  works with the Plant Management team to ensure the seamless interaction of the individual departments of safety, logistics, production, maintenance, sales and quality. The incumbent will act as the central role between the various internal departments in order to manage the day‐to‐day supply to active projects.


WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures
  • Assist Plant Managers in ensuring full compliance and responsibilities for all Health and Safety concerns and the implementation of Company policies
  • Daily interaction with of Plant Managers and Superintendents
  • Travels as needed to meet with Ready‐Mix Drivers to ensure management visibility
  • Assists the Field Operations Supervisor in safety initiatives, claims management and audit compliance.
  • Assists the Operations team and the Quality department to ensure product compliance through production and delivery
  • Communicates effectively with Human Resources, Labour Relations and Payroll departments to ensure personnel needs are met
  • Responsible for assisting in financial results and Operational key performance indicators
  • Provides support to the Operations Manager in their role as main representative of the relationship with the Labour Union.
  • Provides support to plant managers and main business representatives in investigating matters of the public including City/District topics and public complaints
  • Continuous improvement of safety results and standards of expectation
  • Provides change management support to managers, supervisors and front‐line staff
  • Sets and monitors Operations Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Assists Delivery cost management, reducing Operational costs of delivery both on site and within plants.
  • Assists Production cost management, effective management of inventories and plant assets and effective daily maintenance of equipment and plants.
  • This opportunity is part of Lafarge’s New Graduate Development Path (NGDP). WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Recent graduate from post-secondary diploma or university degree program
Field of Study Preferred: Business administration, construction management, civil engineering or technology, business operations management

Required Work Experience: 0-2 years of experience in relevant field and/or industry

Required Technical Skills: Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at a high level

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience working with concrete ready mix , aggregates, asphalt, and/or construction 
  • Strong commercial acumen and proven experience in driving commercial experience
  • Experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills; a self‐starter
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast‐paced environment
  • Strong time management skills essential
  • Independent thinker
  • Ability to negotiate skilfully in tough situations without damaging relationships
