ABOUT THE ROLE

Westlake Paving & Aggregates, a division of Lafarge Canada Inc., operating in the Okanagan Valley is currently seeking a Grader Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of finish grading experience in road construction and a strong understanding of crowns, slopes, drainage, and final grading.

 

Westlake Paving & Aggregates has established itself as a trusted provider of paving solutions, catering to the diverse needs of residential, commercial, and municipal clients. Westlake Paving is a Union company that offers employee benefits and competitive wages starting at $38-41/hr subject to the qualifications and experience.. We offer a safe work environment, on the job training, up to date well-kept equipment and room for advancement. These positions are based out of our Kelowna location and work sites are throughout the Central Okanagan.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Work with engineers and supervisors to ensure proper road alignment and drainage.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, survey stakes, and project plans.

  • Follow safety regulations and company policies at all times.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent professional experience.
Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years of operating a grader.

Required Training/Certifications: Valid driver’s license

Required Technical Skills: Heavy equipment experience

Travel Requirements: Must be willing commute to various job sites within Kelowna and surrounding area

Additional Requirements: Operate a motor grader to achieve precise road grades and slopes.

  • Perform finishing work, including final grading for road surfaces.

  • Inspect, maintain, and ensure the safe operation of equipment.

  • Experience with GPS-controlled grading systems is an asset.

  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
