 ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Gatehouse Attendant is the first point of contact for haulers and visitors entering or exiting the plant site. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and safe truck deliveries and pickups, managing documentation, and directing traffic flow. The Gatehouse Attendant also ensures all incoming personnel receive appropriate site orientation and adhere to Lafarge’s health and safety standards. This position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Monitor all inbound and outbound truck traffic, ensuring proper check-in and check-out procedures for deliveries and pickups.

  • Verify load documentation, ensuring accurate and complete paperwork is collected and logged.

  • Provide clear direction and site orientation to haulers and visitors upon arrival.

  • Communicate with internal departments regarding expected deliveries, pickups, or special access needs.

  • Maintain up-to-date logs of site visitors and ensure PPE compliance at all times.

  • Support enforcement of Lafarge’s safety procedures, including monitoring compliance at the gate and apron areas.

  • Deliver site-specific safety training to haulers and visitors as required.

  • Contribute to a safe and efficient yard operation through proactive communication and coordination.

  • Offer excellent customer service to external haulers and internal stakeholders alike.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Work Experience: Experience in a logistics, gatehouse, or plant operations role preferred
Required Training/Certifications: Site-specific safety training (to be provided)
Required Technical Skills: Basic computer skills; familiarity with paperwork tracking and documentation; strong oral communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced and high-traffic environments

  • Ability to work flexible or rotating shifts if required

  • Knowledge of plant operations, industry terms, and safety protocols an asset

  • Reliable transportation

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
