ABOUT THE ROLE 
Reporting to the Engineering Manager for the Precast Division, the Precast Design Engineer-in-Training (EIT) will provide engineering and technical resource support for the Winnipeg Precast operation’s team. This is a developmental role and an opportunity to gain widespread expertise within our Concrete Products business with the ultimate goal of building a long-term career with Lafarge.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • To serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
  • Provide product design support for plant production and sales.
  • Work with Project Coordinators to manage each project by contract specifications, ensuring our contractual commitments are met.
  • Coordinating with project managers, draftsman, quality control personnel, plant production and erection workers on project details, scheduling, and problem resolution.
  • Attending client project meetings and providing engineering input.
  • Carryout plant and site inspections for quality assurance.
  • Providing preliminary designs for budgets/estimates.
  • Facilitate research & development for new product development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Education: Recently obtained University Degree or College Diploma
Additional Education Preferred: N/A
Field of Study Preferred: Civil or Structural Engineering.
Required Work Experience: 0–2 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry, on-site construction, or with knowledge of contract law is considered an asset.
Required Training/Certifications: Registered EIT.
Required Technical Skills: Google Suite, Microsoft Suite. 
Travel Requirements: 0-10%

  • Strong computer technical aptitude to learn new systems and programs.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
