ABOUT THE ROLE 
Ready Mix Drivers are responsible for the primary day-to-day delivery of Ready Mix Concrete to Job Sites; home owner and industry clients. In this role as a Ready Mix Driver, you will be responsible for customer relationships, giving great service with a Friendly attitude to ensure customers receive a high-level delivery and Product from Lafarge.  This is a customer-facing role that requires a service-oriented mindset and a highly professional approach. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Understand traffic rules and regulations in a commercial vehicle and be courteous on the road.
  • Able to navigate around the City of Winnipeg, as well as surrounding areas, to maintain on-time deliveries.
  • Build and maintain relationships of trust with customers in assigned geography.  Own the satisfaction of these customers at all times.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Logistics, and Operations teams as well as fellow operators.
  • Relationship-building (External customers and internal Lafarge personnel)
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Grade 12 or equivalent
Field of Study Preferred: Understanding of building materials industry, including product knowledge, an asset.
Required Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of related experience. Preference given to those with construction and heavy equipment experience

Required Training/Certifications: Class 3Q (Air Brakes) or Class 1Q – Drivers abstract REQUIRED

Required Technical Skills: Able to perform operation on electronic devices (Tablets, GPS, etc…),

Additional Requirements: 

  • Adhere to all Lafarge safety and Environmental policies and procedures.

  • Maintain equipment by doing daily Pre and Post trip inspections, having a good sense of accountability to keep equipment clean inside and out.

  • Responsible for consistent and reliable customer service through delivery.  Maintain a delivery service that is a positive, hassle-free experience for Lafarge’s customers.

  • Have a flexible schedule.  This position may require an individual to work different shifts as well be available weekends.

  • Open minded and a quick learner

  • Lafarge Ready Mix Training Program provided.

  • Be able to lift >50lbs

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to perform tasks on Electronic devices such as Tablets

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Problem solving and decision making

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong sense of teamwork

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
