Objective 

  • The Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems within Southwestern Ontario. This includes the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.The Electrician plays a crucial role in minimizing downtime due to electrical failures, supporting the areas overall productivity. This position requires a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, a keen ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in all electrical work.
  • Starting pay at competitive wages with benefit, pension plan and pay increase after 3 months. This position may need overtime and occasional weekends when required.

 

Responsibilities

 

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations, and practices. Participate in safety training and meetings.

 

Installation and Maintenance:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components in industrial machinery and equipment.

 

Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems in industrial equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.

 

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and guidance on electrical issues to other maintenance team members.

 

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine maintenance to prevent equipment failures and ensure operational efficiency.

 

Emergency Response:

  • Respond quickly to electrical emergencies, minimizing risks and damages.

 

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance and repairs, including compliance documentation.

 

Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to support overall plant operations.

 

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting improvements in electrical systems and processes.

 

Safety Profile:

  • Comply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations.
  • Wear all Personal Protective equipment as required.
  • Strict compliance with Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Follow Lockout/Tag out/Try out procedures.
  • Emergency response plan awareness.

 

Qualification Profile

 

Education & Work Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship program or an Associate's degree in electrical technology
  • A valid electrician's license as required by local or national regulations.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Electrical Systems Expertise: Proficient in various industrial electrical systems and components.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Skilled in diagnosing and solving complex electrical issues.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Knowledgeable in electrical safety standards and regulations.
  • Technical Tool Proficiency: Ability to use a range of electrical testing and repair tools effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and oral communication abilities.
  • Computer Literacy: Familiarity with computer systems and software used in electrical diagnostics and reporting.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Working outdoors and varied temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Working indoors in varied conditions (ie. hot, noisy, dusty).
  • Rotating shifts, overtime and weekends when required.
  • Mobility through all areas of the plant required, including stairs and ladders.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting less than 50 lbs.
  • Working at heights and confined spaces
