Plant Supervisor

Objective:
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for the leadership and management of the operational functions at the Woodstock Plant. The primary focus of this role is leveraging operational excellence by optimizing available resources and achieving the highest productivity at the lowest cost of production. The supervisor will have a strong understanding of the Lafarge commitment to Health and Safety, as well as the core values expected in all Lafarge management including but not limited to planning production, shipping schedules, optimizing equipment utilization and maximizing quality slag production, safety, and budgets. In addition, the incumbent will improve the value of all Company assets at the plant through increased reliability of equipment and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Safety Culture:
- Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC and subcontractors with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
- Administer, promote and communicate safety policies, processes and procedures to maintain relevance while ensuring the site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Ownership of the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary.
Human Resources:
- Responsible for managing workforce from recruitment, training, disciplinary actions and terminations.
- The incumbent will foster effective employee relations with the union and ensure employees have a daily job list and inform them as soon as possible of any irregular work hours.
- Coaching and development of the workforce including the preparation and management of individual development plans.
Production Management:
- Develop, implement and track maintenance, production and shipping processes and strategies to achieve targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Employ daily communication process with Local Distribution, Supply Chain and Quality to drive group efficiencies, manage inventories and production performance.
- The incumbent is responsible for determining changes in production and maintaining schedules to meet budgeted forecast production.
- Liaison with other department heads to ensure that the safety, maintenance, process, quality, environment, and administrative aspects of the operation pertaining to the Production Department meet the plant objectives.
Maintenance Management:
- Coordinate the preventive, predictive and proactive maintenance of all plant and infrastructure equipment.
- Administers, coordinates and oversees the execution of the maintenance activities.
- Produce maintenance plans and schedules that allow the safe execution of work required to optimize equipment performance and maximize equipment availability.
- Plan all mechanical work orders on a weekly, monthly and turnaround timeline
Environmental Management:
- Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
- Work with Environmental Manager to implement and manage operational standards to manage activities and mitigate our environmental impact.

- Annual Budget: $4,500.00K
- Annual throughput: 130 K+ Metric Tonnes (grinding) & 300K+ Metric Tonnes (terminal)
Specific Accountabilities:
- Promotion and implementation of safe work practices and conditions. Ensures that monthly safety meetings are held and that Plant Safety Rules and the Occupational Health & Safety Act are followed.
- Production and shipment of budgeted product
- Optimization of plant equipment and process through modification and implementation of equipment procedures and training.
- Accuracy of budgeted quantities and costs.
- Maintain a positive and harmonious labour relations atmosphere.
- Adherence to product quality standards.
- Ensure that the operations of the plant are carried out in conjunction with the present environmental regulations.
Qualification Profile:
- Bachelor degree or CET preferred.
- At least two years slag/grinding manufacturing experience.
- Excellent leadership ability and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on many tasks at the same time while keeping excellent organizational skills.
- Very strong computer skills.
- Strong communicator (both oral & written).
- Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving organizational and personal goals.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment (co-workers, suppliers, etc.).
- Well organized and systematic.
