Health, Safety & Environment Lead

Job Purpose

The role is HSE Section head at Geocycle should be:

  • Plan, coordinates and implements a comprehensive occupational health, safety & environmental program. Provides expertise and exercises functional authority over essential matters of safety, health, environment at Geocycle Egypt.
  • To work proactively across the organization to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices and ensures that the organization complies with the Group Health and Safety guidelines and advisories.
  • Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to senior managers and all line managers to enable the work to discharge its statutory, common and moral obligations, keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in HS&E Legislation and Codes of Practice.
  • Country focal point for all topics regarding the A Cert Program in Egypt
  • 5-   ISO projects Manager [14001 -9001 and 45001]

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Health & Safety:

Adhere to and enforce relevant legislation and policies and ensure that highest degree of safety and safe working practices are maintained.

 

 

  1. Functional:

 

  • To ensure the company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently and to monitor and evaluate implementation and practice across the organization and to make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required
  • Responsible for developing, coordinating & managing the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive safety, health and environmental Roadmap designed to prevent Fatalities (FA), Lost time Injuries (LTI), Fire Incidents and occupational illness to employees and/or damage to the property.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Maintain accident statistics, analyze trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary, ensuring all incident were reported using I care system
  • Plan for staff H&S development by providing, or where necessary source, training for staff in relation to Health and Safety policies, practice and procedures in appropriate professional development activities to meet the demands of the needs of the work.
  • Develop, coordinate and implement H&S annual training program across organization.
  • Prepare regular HS Monthly reports, regular compliance reports and activities related to H&S development and awareness plans.
  • Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits [Geocycle’s preprocessing sites, suppliers’ and External BM sites - and point out risks] and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, preparation of general risk assessments and inspection process
  • Conduct pre-operational risk assessments on new sites and design risk mitigation measures with monitoring the development
  • Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies
  • Ensure, at minimum, legal compliance and reduce risk of non-compliance related to environmental management
  • Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programs to deliver these –Assigned roles - Champion for ISO 14001 -2015
  • Promote and coordinate the integration of environmental management and sustainability
  • Issues the environmental management into policies, rules, products, services and operations
  • Ensuring compliance with group and local regulations regarding H&S standards and AF directives to manage workplace safely.
  • Monitor, assess and plan for contractors’ development with arranging monthly meeting with contractors for evaluation
  • Assuring the implementation of road safety program for all contracted material transporters and for people transporter.
  • Work with maintenance vendors to assure PM compliance and demand maintenance is compliant for mobile equipment at Geocycle sites.
  • Respond to requests for HS&E advice/guidance/information wherever appropriate.
  • Lead ISO projects and follow up actions implementation to get ISO certification [45001 and 9001] for Health and safety plus total quality management for Geocycle Egypt.
  • Ensure the validity of firefighting devices, detectors & tools for all preprocessing PF and Agroserv operations.
  • Promote fire safety via talks, training session, participate at the regularly practical fire and first aid drill
  • Frequently provide advice to the site management team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating actions plans to ensure compliance.
  • Plan, coordinate and follow up implementation of industrial hygiene program for Geocycle’s sites.
  • 26- Work proactively with H&S country committee to follow and develop H&S strategies across organization and sharing good practices

Education, Qualifications & Experience

 

Education:

Education: Bachelor's degree [Engineering or chemistry]

Technical Skill:  

  • Cement Background
  • Extensive knowledge of effective health and safety management strategies and best practice
  • Good Project Management
  • Industrial experience in waste treatment operations
  • Ability to develop, implements, and enforce safety programs and protocols.

 

Experience:

 

  • 5 years professional experience in workplace safety, worker's compensations program administration and employee training work.
  • At least 3 years of which have involved administration of a comprehensive safety and accident prevention program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands on health, safety and environmental training with the ability to develop, implement and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs.
