Mechanical Construction Engineer

Job Purpose

 

To lead and coordinate end-to-end execution of mechanical construction and installation activities for industrial projects, ensuring all works are carried out safely, on schedule, and in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards. The role drives on-site mechanical discipline performance across equipment erection, commissioning support, and contractor supervision, directly contributing to successful project delivery within the cement production expansion and reactivation portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

 

  1-Health & Safety:

  • Adhere to and enforce all relevant HSE legislation, company HSE Policies, Rules, and Standards.
  • Conduct and approve detailed Risk Assessments and Preliminary Risk Assessments (PRA) to ensure safe operations.
  • Develop and issue Safe Work Instructions (SWI) in compliance with company and safety standards.
  • Ensure all work permits are properly applied for, reviewed, and executed under company policies.
  • Maintain the highest degree of safety and safe working practices at all times on site.
  • Commit to gaining all HSE competencies relevant to the role as outlined in the country HSE training matrix.

 

2-Functional:

  • Supervise mechanical erection, installation, and commissioning of equipment (kilns, mills, conveyors, crushers, fans, pumps, piping systems, etc.).
  • Ensure execution of works as per engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
  • Monitor daily site activities, manpower allocation, and progress against project schedule.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and vendors for smooth execution of mechanical works.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks of mechanical installations and fabricated components.
  • Identify execution risks and implement corrective actions proactively.
  • Review and verify contractors' work progress, measurements, and payment bills.
  • Support testing and commissioning activities of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare daily/weekly execution reports and update project management accordingly.
  • Authorize materials requests from warehouse for project execution needs.

 

 

Education, Qualifications & Experience

     Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment in heavy industry.
  • Understanding of project execution phases, construction sequences, and commissioning procedures.
  • Familiarity with HSE standards, work permit systems, and risk assessment frameworks.
  • Basic Knowledge of quality control standards experience in mechanical construction or maintenance in heavy process industry (cement

  • 3 years of experience in mechanical construction or maintenance in heavy process industry (cement
  • Proven track record in supervising mechanical erection & equipment installation activities.
  • Experience working with contractors and managing site teams.
  • Strong communication & team coordination skills.
