Mining Engineer

HERACLES Group, Greece’s leading company in the field of building materials and a member of Holcim, is seeking to cover the position of Mining Engineer to join LAVA, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic companies in the industrial minerals production sector. The Mining Engineer will be based at the mine site in Gyali (with his/her residency either on site or on the neighboring islands of Kos/Nisyros).

Role & Key Accountabilities
●    Supports in planning and preparing mining operations.
●    Maintains records of daily maintenance and first-level inspections for mobile and fixed equipment.
●    Monitors quarry activities to ensure safety and legal compliance.
●    Assists with communication and coordination with authorities and stakeholders.
●    Participates and actively contributes to review quarry reserves and evaluate raw materials.
●    Supports the Sustainable Development department in monitoring and evaluating the performance of the Environmental Management System.
●    Guarantees compliance with the environmental conditions as defined in the operating permit of the units under his/her responsibility (water & waste management, etc.).

Qualifications & Skills
●    Degree in Mining Engineering / Mineral Resources Engineering
●    2-5 years’ experience in an industrial/quarry environment (preferred but not mandatory)
●    Excellent command of the English language
●    Proactive and self-driven attitude
●    Results-oriented, committed to Health & Safety issues
●    Team spirit and effective communication
